Any who, seems like a lot of forums have been down these past days, a lot due to the fire in the planet’s data center, which i’m sure you’ve all already heard about. Talkfreelance was down a couple days, aswell as digitalpoint (although I think it was unrelated to The Planet), invisionfree / zetaboards is still having trouble with their dns.. their forums keep coming and going on and offline, at least in my case.

First of all TN, was suspended for using too much resources on hostgator, after chatting with support, it took around 8 hours before they unsuspended it, I then had to get a vps and move the site over, lucky enough for me RapidVps were fast at transferring the site, I recommend them to all, only took them around 30 minutes to get my whole forum (2gb worth of data) transferred to their vps. If you need a vps I definitely recommend them. Then was the whole ordeal of dns propragating which took around 24 hours and we’re back. Next thing to do on the list is upgrade the forum to vBulletin 3.7.1.. been a while since i’ve upgraded it.

Hostedfx has also been playing up the last few days, first somehow my .htaccess file was edited without me knowing which screwed up AnimeCut resulting in none of the pages working on the site, the captcha (gd library) wasn’t installed and they moved servers half way through the night which made me lose some members on AC. No worries though, I’m just glad their server is still fast.

Things you should know when creating your own proxy site. This comes from personal experience.

1. Do not use a domain name that has the word proxy in it, it is obvious to network administrators are they will immediately block it, or the web filter will block it automatically.

2. Do not add adversal or other form of pop ups / pop unders on the proxied pages, unless you get fresh traffic from search engines, you won’t get much returning visitors if you do so.

3. Try and be unique, make your site easy to remember and also stand out from the millions of other proxies already out there. Use a brandable domain.

4. Use a good reliable proxy host. A days worth of downtime can and will kill your proxies traffic intensely.

5. Don’t make a proxy. Make a site on another niche, the proxy niche is too saturated

For some reason, i’m hooked on the anime, Code Geass. It has so much plot twists that you can’t even predict what’s going to happen on the next episode and I love it. The main character, Lelouch is a genius, srsly. Every week I have to get my Code Geass fix.. it just pwns. =] C.C is adorable.

Yeah, i decided to bring it back after sooooo long (over a year infact) I’ll just ramble on about random shit, so if you get bored reading then just leave the page =D I’m not forcing you to read.. so yeahh, work was good today.. as good as it gets. BK, maybe I should take some photos… that reminds me, I can’t get quality photos anymore since I got mugged on the way home the other day.. *gasp*.
